A little bit of what I’ve been working on this semester.
In Ceramics I am making sculptures that reflect a womanly nature, for lack of a better term. See my post farther down on my concept for more info!
In Woods today I was quite productive. I’m making a box with a sliding lid, and its legs were going to be the hardest thing to accomplish in my mind because they’re so small, and power tools scare me. But I cut all four of them and sanded them to a rounded perfection, all in a day’s work! Go me.
And lastly, labs. Labs, labs, labs.
My Raw Materials class is intense but I learn so much! It’s basically chemistry and everything ceramics related. You wanna know about kaolins? Feldspars? The viscosity of a porcelain slip with .2% Darvan 811? Lemme tell ya somethin!
Currently we’re running glaze tests, so these test tiles are a line batch of Minspar, Frit 3124, and Grolleg and a line batch of Nepheline Syenite, Frit 3134, and OM4. And I can’t wait to see the results. But even more so, I can’t wait to post the final versions of these projects!
